Jaclyn clearly remembers when her grandmother took her to her first piano lesson when she was 6 years old. Learning the piano became a lifelong journey and it opened the door to learning several other instruments (which included the oboe, cello, guitar and voice). Jaclyn graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2000 with a Bachelor of Music and started teaching piano shortly after that.
Over a span of 20 years, Jaclyn has taught in three different countries: South Africa, Singapore and Canada. Her pupils have ranged from four years of age to adults. Jaclyn’s travels brought her to Canada in 2018 and two years later, she graduated with a Masters in Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University. She has been working as a music teacher and music therapist in Kitchener. Jaclyn follows a music-centred approach to Music Therapy and has completed a course in Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy as well as Neurologic Music Therapy training.
Jaclyn also has a special love for accompanying and enjoys working with other instrumentalists. Her favourite thing to do is spending time with her family (which consists of her husband and two daughters and a cat), playing boardgames, computer games and doing family singalongs around the piano. Her other interests are Kungfu and Qigong.
